My approach and services

My therapeutic approach balances complete acceptance of you for you while also helping you make changes so that you feel better equipped to achieve your goals. Together, we will tune in to your nervous system so that you can process your emotional experiences not just through thoughts but also by understanding how they manifest physically. We will address the symptoms of what you’re experiencing to ensure that you have tools to cope with uncomfortable feelings while building tolerance to strengthen your resilience and confidence. Much of our work will also include diving deeper by examining patterns present in your life and relationships so that you can better understand different parts of yourself and what motivates you in your interactions with others.
Individual therapy
Many of the adults and teens I work with in individual therapy have learned to cope with challenging relationships, emotions, memories, or stressors by trying to control the uncontrollable or by shutting themselves off from the world around them. As a therapist, I listen intently so that I can best understand you and adapt my approach to address your needs and preferences. Some of the therapeutic modalities I pull from include mindfulness, somatic experiencing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, attachment theory, experiential therapy, and Internal Family Systems.
Couples therapy
When working with couples, I mainly employ Emotionally-Focused Therapy and attachment theory. Your time working with me in couples therapy will help you feel more understood and access greater empathy for your partner. From there we will practice new ways of interacting so that you can strengthen your connection and more easily work as a team when navigating life’s challenges. I also use Prepare/Enrich, a gold‑standard, research‑based assessment tool that helps couples gain personalized insights into their strengths and growth areas—empowering them to build stronger communication, resolve conflicts, and enrich their relationship.
EMDR therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched and highly effective method that enables healing from trauma and distressing life events—often more quickly than traditional talk therapy—by pairing memories with bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or tapping) to reprocess them (emdria.org). While EMDR is best known for its use with PTSD, research also supports its effectiveness for anxiety, depression, grief, phobias, and other stress-related challenges. It’s recognized by the American Psychiatric Association, the World Health Organization, and others as a valid, evidence-based treatment. I’m trained in EMDR and am ready to support you with this powerful healing method.
